The first two photos were taken on the way to Füssen, which is the nearest town to the two castles. Those who know me well know I love flower pictures, and the second one is sort of reminiscent of The Sound of Music (it is the Alps again, and very close to the border with Austria, though we are in Germany here).
Third is the castle Neuschwanstein, King Ludwig II's fairy tale castle (and the one Cinderella's is modeled after). We weren't allowed to photograph the insides of the castles, but this one was exceptional, and I am only sad Ludwig never got to finish it (they thought he was crazy, took him away, then he drowned, a field day for conspiracy theorists).
Fourth is Hohenschwangau, the castle of Ludwig's parents and the place he grew up.
The last two are views from Neuschwanstein. The two castles are actually still privately owned. I wouldn't mind having my own castle with the Alps as my backyard. Apparently the names of these two castles are quite a mouthful for those non-German speaking people, because I kept hearing them butchered even after tour guides repeated them multiple times.
